Vaccinations
Recording a vaccine or shot record, and where the warnings show up.
Vaccinations sit on the pet, each with an expiry date — rabies, kennel cough, whatever your state or your insurer asks for. Record what the certificate says and the date on it, not the date you typed it in.
Only the newest record counts
A pet can have several records for the same vaccine — last year's certificate and this year's. The one with the latest date given is the one that counts, and an older one that has since lapsed is simply history. Add the new certificate and the old one stops warning anywhere.
Where a lapsed one shows
On the client's record and the client list, on the day's grooming cards on Today, on the stay card for a boarding stay, and in the client portal. A stay card also warns about anything expiring partway through the stay, which is the one that catches people out — the jab is valid on the day they arrive and not on the day they leave. Stay cards show lapsed and expiring jabs, not ones that were never recorded.
When it stops a booking, and when it does not
It depends on whether you have marked the vaccine as required in Settings.
- A grooming appointment is never refused over vaccinations. Whether that dog is turned away is your decision.
- A boarding stay for a dog with a lapsed jab is refused with the reason, and somebody allowed to override can book it anyway — the record may arrive before the stay does.
- A dog with lapsed jabs cannot be put out in a playgroup, and that one cannot be overridden: a yard is where an outbreak spreads.
- On Arrivals, a dog due in with a lapsed or missing required vaccine is flagged with what is wrong. Anyone who can book over a conflict, usually a manager, can tick Check in anyway; everyone else is asked to get a manager. If one dog in a group is flagged and not ticked, nobody in that group is checked in until it is sorted. A jab that merely expires during the stay does not stop a check-in; it shows on the stay card.
