Payroll
Hours and commission, per person, for a period.
Payroll shows each person’s hours at their hourly rate, plus commission on what they sold, kept separate all the way down to the total.
"How much of that was commission?" is the first question anybody asks about a payslip, and a single figure cannot answer it.
Warnings above the money
- An unfinished shift is excluded from paid hours and said so — we will not pay somebody for a shift they never clocked out of.
- Hours with no hourly rate on file are flagged, because that reads like a commission-only groomer until somebody notices it is not.
No rate is not a rate of zero
A commission-only groomer has no hourly rate. Zero would mean they are paid nothing an hour, which is a different claim, so the two are kept apart.
Setting somebody’s hourly rate is behind the commission permission, not the payroll one. Reading what people are owed and deciding what they are paid are different jobs.
