Keeping a card on file

Saving a card for next time, and charging it later.

A client can save a card so you do not have to ask for it again. Either they enter it themselves from a link you email them, or, with them at the desk, you key it into the payment provider's own card field on their record. Either way the number goes straight to our payment provider and never reaches our servers.

How to ask for one

  1. 1 Open the client Clients and pets, then the person.
  2. 2 Choose Add a card, or Send a link instead Add a card is for when they are at the desk. Send a link instead emails them a secure link.
  3. 3 The card appears on their record Brand and last four digits only.

Not available yet Sending the card-on-file link by text as well as by email.

Charging a saved card

On any invoice for that client, choose their saved card and confirm. Charging a saved card is a separate permission from taking a payment at the desk, because charging somebody who is not standing in front of you is a different act.

The client says they never got the link.

Check the client has an email address on their record, and that they have not opted out of messages from you. The Messages screen shows whether it went out and, if it did not, why.

Can I type in their card myself?

Yes, with the client's permission, using Add a card. You type into our payment provider's own secure field on the page, so the number goes to them and never through our servers or into our records.
